The salt flats - Salar de Uyuni - just outside Uyuni in Bolivia. How I loved that place.

Picture stiched together of too many pictures - around 70 I think. Probably didn't need all of them, and it took for ages to stitch it together (the computer used ages, I did something else =p)

When I took the pictures I thought I took pictures 180degrees in both directions (left-right, up-down) - but as this looks very much like a wide panorama I obviously didn't :XD:

More pictures from my trip to South America
More Panoramas

Post-processing
Stitched the pictures together with automatic photomerge in photoshop. Removed some of the many dustspots with the healing tool.

Lightened the salt flats and turned up the contrast a bit with a curves layers. Also made the salt a tiny bit less yellow and red with curves.

Lightened the higlights in the sky with another curves layer. Turned up the contrast on the whole picture with a black and white layer set to soft light (100%), where I partly masked out some of the darker areas in the sky.

Suggester says, "This amazing landscape certainly deserves a DD imho. The placement of the two Jeeps is impeccable, the sky is neatly saturated and the impressive landscape itself is captured perfectly."

This is really pretty ^o^

I heard that when it rains, it becomes a huge mirror that reflects the clouds! Have you seen that yet? :D

Thanks :aww:

I have seen pictures of it, but I haven't seen it myself. But it looks pretty cool!
Only thing is that it reflects the sun really good as well, so it's really warm, and people tend to get sunburnt, even when using sunscreen with high factor :D

Thanks :aww:

It's actually easier to make panoramas than one might think. Most panoramas can be taken by hand without a tripod, and you definitely don't need a special panoramic head (unless you want to make 360degrees panoramas or don't want to risk loosing any part of the picture).
The most important thing is overlapping, the more overlapping the easier it is for a program to stitch the pictures together (it can be done in Photoshop, and also there are free panorama stitching programs out there on the web (I haven't tried any of those though, as the newest Photoshops work like a charm at stitching).

Also, I usually take my pictures in portrait format (longest side is vertical), that way I include more in my pictures, and I usually make sure to include more than I actually need, cause you probably will have to crop the picture, usually with some spillage.
